    As a result of Enron and other recent scandals, the general public's perception of the CPA as valued professional is at an all time low.  We, as CPAs, can work together to restore the public's confidence and rebuild the public's trust in the profession.

     

    CPA practitioners are keenly aware of their responsibility to the public when issuing attest reports to third parties. If the profession does not meet, or is perceived as not meeting, its responsibilities to the public, the value of our certificates will be greatly diminished.

     

    The licensure of CPAs is intended to protect the public interest. This process also adds value to the CPA certificate. The public is best protected when CPA firms are owned exclusively by CPAs, providing the public an assurance of quality and service of the highest caliber.
